Lezhë Castle

Lezhë Castle through the centuries

Lezhë Castle stands on the hill east of the city, offering panoramic views of Lezhë, the Drin Valley and the Adriatic Sea. It forms part of the ancient city of Lissus and is one of the area's principal cultural heritage monuments.

The castle preserves traces of Illyrian, Roman, Byzantine, Venetian and Ottoman architecture. Rebuilding over the centuries has shaped the combination of walls, towers and interior spaces visible today.

Visitors can explore the fortifications, the ruins of historic buildings and the remains of the mosque, discovering the different stages of the castle's development.
